An afternoon in service!

Mike and I started out in service on Friday going across the lake to San Marcos for a return visit. Later we met up with Diego to help him with some territory in a small town called Jaibalito. Boy did we not know what we were getting ourselves into! I'll let the pics tell a little about the story first...

Once we got up the first hill, the path wasn't bad for awhile!

As we took a little pause from walking, here is what it looked like looking down from the path!

But look at the views from the tiny little path we were on!

Ok we are almost at the end of our adventure! We reached the hotel that Suzie Summers, Jenni Bendel & Claudia Cormier have stayed in, one that, up until now, we've seen only by boat!

The pics tell you a little bit and not really that good, so I will fill you in a little bit more. Mike and I met Diego in a town called Jaibalito around 1:00pm. We didn't know we would be doing what we did! But hey, why not! This part of the territory has never been visited definitely by the English and most likely not by the Spanish or Cakchiquel either! We were probably about 800 ft above the lake on the side of the mountain. Crazy huh? We gave out tracts to whoever we talked to whether English, Spanish or Cakchiquel. We found one English speaking man! At about the end of our trek, we came across 2 Guatemalan women on the path, each were carrying about 50lbs of wood on their backs and one was carrying a baby too! Seeing that, we couldn't complain about anything! We finally got back to Pana around 3:30. Although it was very tiring, we had a great experience, one that we won't forget for a long time to come!

Oh and by the way, Ashlie and Austin had experienced this earlier in the morning in a different area until poor Ashlie got sick and had to go home! :0(

 Oh and by the way...it was announced tonight that Mike has been reappointed to serve as an elder in the Lago Atitlan Ingles Congregation!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

August 1, 2014 1st Day of Campaign

Our first day of the campaign we went across the lake to San Marcos. Here are a few pics from our day in the ministry! First is a map of Panajachel and the other towns on the lake.

Boat dock to Lomas De Tzununa (hotel- see next pics)

This is a hotel that Suzie Summers and Claudia Cormier have stayed at before. (I actually took this pic for them.) It is a 330 ft. climb up via 100's of steps. From pics I have seen, it has a gorgeous view!

 

If you don't have enough people in the group for a private boat you have to take a public one and it stops at different docks on the way back to Pana, this is the dock area of Santa Cruz(see map above).
