Our day in Quetzaltenango!

Where is that you may be wondering? Quetzaltenango (aka Xela pronounced Shayla) is the second largest city in Guatemala, with a population of 152,223. As you can see on the map, it is about an hour and a half drive NW of Panajachel. It has four Kingdom Halls, 10 Spanish congs., and 1 English group. On August 31st we were sent there for Mike to give the public talk at the English group. Their meeting time was 11:30am. A brother name Lico Martinez came and picked us up in Pana. We arrived in Xela at about 10:30am. There is about 20 or so in the group and the group is about 6 months old. This was the English groups last meeting in this building. They are going to sell it. The Spanish will stay there until it is sold. After the map there are pics of the Kingdom Hall.

Here's a funny story involving Bro. Crane (in the white shirt). Morgan was looking at the menu (Spanish) and saw a picture of chicken strips and fries and asked Bro. Crane, "Is this like chicken strips?' Which he replied, "Yes!" So she said ok and ordered it. Come to find out they were chicken gizzards! NOT what she was expecting! Thank goodness her dad likes chicken gizzards so he traded his fried chicken leg, thigh and wing with her! On our way back she was telling Lico the story and he said, "Who did you ask about it?" and she replied, "Bro. Crane!" He said "Oh no, he would be the last person to ask!" Well now we know! Very loving and hospitable brothers and sisters! After we got done eating and visiting, we headed back to Pana. We got home about 6:30pm. Long day but worth it!!!!
